Holiday Stockings with Cavorting snowmen

These large personalized holiday stockings are created completely from scratch.   I painted this first set of stockings for a family with two young daughters. The snowmen are having a lot of fun, one of them is very partial to pink boots!! Everyone loves the face on the little snowman on the old wooden sled. Chickadees, Holly and berries with red satin ribbon make for a sophisticated look for Mom. The houses in the snow references the Dad’s profession as an architect.  I ended up updating it which is why there are two versions of the Jared stocking!!!  I placed the painted cotton fabric on quilt batting and machine quilted around the larger areas, and stitched straight lines of quilting on the back side.  The approximately 16″ tall stockings have a satiny lining and a cuff on the top with the painted name name of each family member..  A sturdy loop is stitched into the top back edge.  If you are interested in having me paint stockings for your family please contact me through this site. Orders for this year’s holiday season must be received before October 31 of the current year.  4 stockings for $400, 2 for $250.

Light house children’s chair

This little child’s chair is painted as if it were a mural. The chair belonged to the client who gave me free reign to do whatever I wanted and this was the result.  The beach scene wraps around all surfaces of the chair.  The light house is a famous one, I am sure you recognize it.  The model for the hyper-realistic copper sand pail was a miniature pail that I stuck into rice to capture the look I wanted. The seagulls were taken from photos a friend took at the beach.  The sand castle which I painted on one of the sides was a particularly difficult challenge.

Paris Mural

This mural is painted in acrylic on six unwanted wall mirrors which surrounded a table nook in an average size kitchen.  It is quite dramatic when viewed in person.    I worked with the client to select motifs that suggested  Paris street scenes.  All the names and numbers in the mural have specific meaning to the family that commissioned it.  I had so much fun doing this mural that I didn’t want this project to end!

Ocean Chest

This cabinet is painted with an ocean scene which wraps continuously around all three sides . After receiving this commission I visited a cousin’s beach house and saw their entrance to the beach. I knew immediately that this was the perfect scene for this cabinet. The left side has a Sandpiper bird.  The right side is simple with just the sky, sand dunes and a few rocks piled in the sand.   Notice how the knobs are painted as part of the scene too.
