Painted Garden Ornament Cat

This is Hopey the cat. This unique project began with a purchased cement garden ornament. I painted her from multiple photographs supplied by the family to resemble their beloved family pet.  It was important to give some life to the face.  I painted just a little eye peeking out from the sleeping face with which the cement was originally cast.  I think it makes all the difference.  When you come across Hopey ‘sleeping’ in the garden you have to look twice to see she isn’t going to wake up and meow at you!  I have included a picture of what the cement cat looked like early in the painting process when I had just begun to add some color over my coats of white sealant.

Cat in the Box Portrait

This is a portrait of my all time favorite Kitty, named Captain.  He stuffed himself into this small box about fifteen years ago and I ran quick for a camera!   I chose to paint him a little larger than life a few weeks ago because I still miss this special, affectionate Maine Coon.  The portrait is done in liquid acrylic on a 16″ X 20″ canvas.   Do you have a favorite pet I could create a wonderful portrait of?  Please contact me through this site if you are interested.

Cats Portraits on Stone

I paint animal portraits from photos of real cats. I capture their personal markings, features and especially their eyes. I choose beach stones with relatively smooth surfaces which are about the size of large potatoes! Do you have a favorite kitty that you would like me to paint for you? I need nice clear photos of your animal’s face plus additional photos showing their body, paws and tails. Either prints or electronic PDF files are fine. I try to include as many details as I can. These stones are $50 each plus shipping. Larger stones are available at varying prices. Contact me through this site if you are interested in having a unique stone painted.
