Clematis Mailbox

This mailbox was plain white plastic when it came to me for decoration.  The home it stands in front of is known for its fabulous Clematis in the spring which is where I took my inspiration from.  My goal for painting this multitude of flowers was to paint quick and loose for a joyous welcome.  I think I succeeded!  Look for the Monarch butterfly in the corner of one side and the honeybee on the other side.   When I finished the art work, the mailbox was brushed with several coats of polyurethane to make it New England weather worthy!

Dog Portrait: Barney with a Scarf

I painted this charming portrait of a Black Lab on an “18 X 24” canvas in Acrylics.  He was commissioned as a birthday gift for his loving owner.  I was told that Barney is a kind and patient dog who was a tad annoyed by having this scarf wrapped around him, hence his  less than happy continence as he obediently regards us!  I worked deligently to pull all the details out of his smooth black fur.  The scarf was especially fun to paint. Do you have a special animal in your family that you would like me to paint as a canvas??  Please feel free to contact me through this site.  Prices start at $200.

In This House entryway mural

Enter this house through the mud room and take a moment to read the walls!  As you open the door  you are face to face with  bold letters stating IN THIS HOUSE, followed by the family’s philosophy!  I painted several quotes and paraphrases  in black on the yellow walls, from classic sci-fi and fantasy movies, television  and books.  What sources do you recognize? Harry Potter! Star Wars! Star Trek! Goonies! Lord of the Rings! Hitchhiker’s Guide and more.  Then when you exit the house look up over the door and see the directive from the Princess Bride!   What a fun mural this was to paint.  Or should I say is …  We expect to add additional phrases over time.

Abstract Child’s Rocker Revisited

This child’s rocker is based on a chair I did a number of years ago. I painted both in abstract geometric designs with bold colors; purple, teal, cream, black and gold. I even managed to include a snail and a butterfly. The style works well for either a boy or a girl.  In this instance I customized the design for a particular little girl.  Can you discern her name???
