This rose is painted on a wooden plaque that is 6″X4″. It is based on photo I took in Elizabeth Park, Hartford one summer. The sun was just streaming through the pale petals and I just had to capture it! I think this underside view is so much more interesting than a traditional view! There is also a honey bee who has come to visit. |

Hollyhock on Wood Slice
Old fashioned Hollyhocks are one of my favorite flowers but I can never seem to get them to establish themselves in my garden, so instead I painted one!! Painted in a hyper-realistic style, with sharp shadows, this flower seems to jump off the background. A bee hovers near by. This Hollyhock is painted on a slice of wood about eight inches tall.
Pink Rose on Slice of Wood
This life size pink rose nearly pops off the slice of wood I painted it on. If you look close you will see my signature insect is a lady bug on a leaf. This piece is about seven inches wide. |
