Havanese Dog Stone

This cute dog is a portrait of a breed called Havanese.  I painted him on a stone which is about 6″ at it’s widest .   I tried to capture his personality as well as the texture of his lush fur.   His front paws are tucked under his chest and his tail and one paw are on the back.

Do you have a favorite pet that you would like represented on a  stone?  Send me nice clear photos of face and body!

Antique Doll Outfit

Preview

This lovely antique doll needed a new outfit and the commission was a welcome a change of pace.   Working in miniature for dolls can be challenging but clothing construction for both humans and dolls has been part of my repertoire since I was a teenager.  I chose the striped fabric as my starting point because it had a vintage look to it and the concept grew from there.  I made her a unique full outfit including pantaloons, a petticoat, a blouse, a skirt, a jacket and a hat, all trimmed with a variety of lace and ribbons.  Isn’t she sweet?

Football Table for a Teenager

This small side table was painted for a middle school young man with football aspirations.   I used his team colors for the uniform as well as  his own jersey number.   The background field is deliberately out of scale so it emphasizes the ideal football player as he ‘flies’ down the field.   On the lower shelf I painted, in the Trompe L’oeil style, a couple of index cards with diagrams of football plays because, well, fool the eye  is what I like to do!!   The table stands 20″ tall and the top is 14″ X 16″ .
