Holiday Stockings with Dinosaurs

This third set of large personalized holiday stockings was created completely from scratch for a family with a young son. When the family requested dinosaurs, I had a moment of hesitation and then a burst of inspiration. Dinosaurs must have enjoyed playing in the snow, right?  And they would have build snowosaurs wouldn’t they?  Do you see it???   This cat with the red satin ribbon bow and Chickadees  was based on a beloved pet.  I really like the birch trees and the antlered reindeer for the Dad    I placed the painted cotton fabric on quilt batting and machine quilted around the larger areas, and stitched straight lines of quilting on the back side.  The approximately 16″ tall stockings have a satiny lining and a cuff on the top with the painted name name of each family member.  A sturdy loop is stitched into the top back edge.  If you are interested in having me paint stockings for your family please contact me through this site. Orders for this year’s holiday season must be received before October 31 of the current year.  4 stockings for $400, 2 for $250.

Holiday Stockings with Tae Kwan Do Kick

This second set of large personalized holiday stockings are created completely from scratch for a family with two young sons. For the older son, who studies Tae Kwan Do, I thought he would ‘get a kick’ out of the exploding snowman, while younger brother would like the firemen since Granddad is a fire Chief.  A cat with red satin ribbon is for Mom who works with animals and then there is Dad who loves his vintage riding snow blower!   I placed the painted cotton fabric on quilt batting and machine quilted around the larger areas, and stitched straight lines of quilting on the back side.  The approximately 16″ tall stockings have a satiny lining and a cuff on the top with the painted name name of each family member..  A sturdy loop is stitched into the top back edge.  If you are interested in having me paint stockings for your family please contact me through this site. Orders for this year’s holiday season must be received before October 31 of the current year.  4 stockings for $400, 2 for $250.

Holiday Stockings with Cavorting snowmen

These large personalized holiday stockings are created completely from scratch.   I painted this first set of stockings for a family with two young daughters. The snowmen are having a lot of fun, one of them is very partial to pink boots!! Everyone loves the face on the little snowman on the old wooden sled. Chickadees, Holly and berries with red satin ribbon make for a sophisticated look for Mom. The houses in the snow references the Dad’s profession as an architect.  I ended up updating it which is why there are two versions of the Jared stocking!!!

Sports Locker Mural on closet doors

This mural began with two brand new plain closet doors! It is painted in Trompe L’oeil style to look like a real bank of lockers just jam packed with sporting equipment. I had a ball doing these doors (pun intended!!)  The client and I collected all sorts of sports paraphernalia to use as models.  We added in anything we could think of!     Who’d ever have thought painting smelly old sneakers could be such a great idea?  Did all of you UConn fans notice the ‘old’ Husky sticker peeling off? Even the masking tape names and the door handles are painted on.  I have included a photo of one of the doors ajar, just to help you understand the illusion.  To open the closet however, one pulls on real combination locks and a real golf ball which were added after the doors were hung.  I am particularly proud and fond of this project.
